Codex Death Company

By Robert Kaye

This codex is based off the one released in White Dwarf 229, with updates to take into account the changes between 3rd and 5th ed., and to give the player some measure of control over his army rather than have every unit having compulsory movement towards the nearest enemy. It also seeks to provide some balance to the army by removing redundant units and overpowered units and providing a means of holding objectives. This army is based on the idea that the Tower of the Lost, home to those who have succumbed to the black rage, at times releases its occupants under supervision by sane members of the Blood Angels to be given the chance to die in battle rather than to become abominations, and that some of the former squad members of those who succumb to the black rage assist their brethren one last time. Since this force is typically sent into deliberately suicidal missions, the most valuable members of the chapter do not attend such forces, with the occasional exception of Chaplain Lemartes as it is part of his duty. Although this army may seem extremely powerful in close combat, it does have a key weakness in that it has very few units that can take objectives, leaving the player with the choice of either making an army that does not try to take objectives and goes solely for the massacre, or one that uses the berserk elements of the army to protect those few scoring units while they take objectives.

The profiles for the majority of the units are available from the free Blood Angels codex online and have been reproduced here for ease of use.

Special Rules:

Red Thirst: May not count as a scoring unit.

Guardians of the Lost: Counts as a scoring unit.
